After the opening night of the Timberly Troupers’ new musical, Dorothy and her slightly daft husband Charlie host an informal gathering of actors and friends. The guests include a divorced teacher-turned-bad-ventriloquist, a charming but unfocused actor, a rising starlet, a spiteful ham, his exasperated wife, and a drama critic who’s just broken his rule against reviewing community theater. Barbs fly, dreams crack, and loyalties are tested—but Dorothy’s warmth holds the evening together in a tender, funny look at ambition, disappointment, and the need to belong.
